Cerberus Pottery
Medusa’s Ghostwares series is a one-of-a-kind functional stoneware by Lynette A. Peters exclusively for the AGNS. Each piece is handcrafted with Canadian clay and glaze, incorporating derelict ghost gear recovered by Scotia Shores from Nova Scotia’s coastlines. These works transform ocean waste into enduring objects of beauty, use, and reclamation.
Lynette A. Peters is a ceramicist whose artistic practice is rooted in the elemental forces of earth, water, air, and fire, and shaped by the mythologies that first gave form to human imagination. Through the archetype of an awakened Medusa, Peters explores transformation, emotions, and the reclamation of miscast narratives. In this work, Medusa us reborn from monster into mirror and method: lover of the unloved, bearer of difficult knowledge, and a figure through whom the wordless reclaims form.
Peters approaches craft as a vernacular for identity, belonging, endurance, and renewal. Clay is a haptic medium and phenomenological time capsule, holding traces of human experience through touch, intention and form. Within the functional aesthetics of ceramic artforms, lived experience may be archived in layers, offering tangible narratives for reflection, interpretation, and shared meaning.
