    Originally from Happy Valley, Goose Bay, Labrador, Smith has been based in Yarmouth County, NS for many years. As a young girl, Smith was taught by her mother how to make duffle parkas that they would carefully hand-embroider with original designs. Inspiration from the sixteen members of her family led to her business name “16 Souls”. Through her work, Smith maintains a strong connection to her roots and culture. Smith enjoys beading and often showcases sealskin in her designs. Smith is an active member of the Native Council of Nova Scotia.
