KG Ceramics

KG Ceramics is a two person pottery company in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Mi'kma'ki (Nova Scotia), run by artists Kaas Ghanie (he/him) and Kate Grey (she/her). They met in university and began making pottery together in 2017. Both have a love for the intimate connection between making a handmade item and then being able to use it for its function in their home. As potters they also have a love and appreciation for the culinary arts and are deeply inspired by family recipes. Kaas and Kate's pottery designs stem from the landscape of Mi'kma'ki and the bright colours of maritime architecture. 

Kaas Ghanie is the ceramic technician at the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft on Marginal road. Kaas loves the puzzle of creating a glaze recipe, fixing a wheel or kiln and mapping out efficient studio procedures.

Kate Grey is the main pottery instructor of the duo and enjoys seeing her students be creative in clay often for the first time.
