Elizabeth Enders - Painting...Place
Elizabeth Enders calls Nova Scotia home for a few fleeting months of the year. During those summer months she soaks in her surroundings on the south shore of Nova Scotia and paints. The hours spent in her studio in Chester, Nova Scotia sustain her painting practice and feeds the thoughts and images she creates in her Manhattan studio the rest of the year.
This deeply personal collection of paintings, drawings and pages from the artist’s notebook draws on 50 years of travels and production. Painting…Place brings together a series of evocative and sensual works that describe a particular place or moment. Filled with an abundance of natural light, her lyrical imagery captures the sea and sky in gestures and strokes that will ignite the senses and quicken your heart!
Originally from New London, Connecticut, Enders received her BA from Connecticut College. She then went on to earn a Masters of Art from New York University. Her work has been exhibited in museums all over the United States such as the Addison Gallery of American Art, the New Museum in New York, and the Santa Monica Museum of Art. Her work resides in the collections of The Wadsworth Atheneum, the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Lyman Allyn Art Museum, as well as that of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.
