Arena: The Art of Hockey
Hockey and art may not seem like they have much in common; however, if you look closer, there are certain similarities they both share. From creativity, to imagine, to passion, and the pursuit of excellence, ARENA: The Art of Hockey illustrates the art of the game. It also looks at larger ideas and issues in contemporary culture by using hockey as a framework.
This exhibition catalogue features the work of over 50 Canadian and international artists. All the works take inspiration from Canada’s game, hockey. This book is for both the art appreciator and hockey fan. The works are challenging, engaging and often amusing. These works are not about fandom but a recognition and exploration of the way hockey is woven into the Canadian psyche.
